Nusdorfer Dolfa

Nusdorfer Dolfa

As a child at home in Slovenia she learnt to make bobbin lace very quickly. She watched with interest her mother at work. After a fortnight, she tried it herself and she managed. She always made bobbin lace, embroidered and crocheted various decorative items. She wishes the tradition to go on and has started to teach her daughter. Together they made some beautiful handcraft pieces.

Dolfa Nussdorfer was borm Kovach in Lokavec near Ajdovščina in Slovenia. She arrived in Australia in 1962 and married Franc Nussdorfer from Vipava. Dolfa still likes making bobbin lace, crocheting and knitting. She has been doing this in Australia for 15 years, ever since she had settled here, Nowadays she is working mainly in daytime, since her eyes are not quite good enough to do the fine work at night.
