Lojze Jerič

Lojze Jerič

He learned stonemasonry and making mosaics as a young lad in Slovenia. His life story took him in quite different directions and decades passed before he took up making mosaics once more.

“I came to Australia in 1954 and fifty years passed before I took up mosaics again. Nowadays, whenever I can find the time and energy, I start assembling pieces to make a mosaic.”

Jerič is quite renowned for his mosaics. Although he started making them again only some years ago and only in his free time, he has already created quite a number. They adorn the churches of the Slovene communities in Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide, as well as several Australian institutions.

Lojze Jerič is a native of Štanjel in the Karst. He has lived in Australia for over fifty years and resides in Melbourne.
